Duke volunteers are need to introduce local eighth graders to the college experience as part of the university’s annual School Days on Friday, Oct. 16.

Staff and faculty are invited to encourage these young teens, who don’t have a family member who has attended college, aim for higher education.

The Office of Community Affairs is seeking faculty for 20 minute sessions to talk about their research and staff to act as walking mentors to travel with the groups as they visit the DiVE virtual reality chamber, the Human Patient Simulator, and other exciting places around campus.

Now in the 10th year, School Days has helped more than 3,000 Durham students plan for college.  Two School Days alumni, both current Duke students (and football team members), will be there to address the students this year.
