Durham, NC -- Four Duke seniors will exhibit their artwork in the Graduation with Distinction Visual Arts Exhibition at the Smith Warehouse from April 26 to May15, 2007.
Heather Huskey, Brandi Feemster, Yifan Xu and Erin McCue, students in the Department of Art, Art History and Visual Studies, present work that highlights their unique styles and interests.
Huskey’s work, called "The Language of War," attempts to critically analyze the meanings behind the popular words and phrases of the Iraq War in the form of a series of posters reminiscent of propaganda posters of previous wars.
Brandi Feemster presents a retrospective look back in her video called "what’s here."
As a pre-medical biology major, Yifan Xu incorporates her passion for science in her installation, "The Forest Through the Trees" by creating an environment inspired by her study of the functioning of the brain.
Erin McCue’s work, "Does This Make Me Look..." examines the role of stereotypes in an 18-foot-long charcoal drawing.
The opening reception will be held on Thursday, April 26 rom 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Smith Warehouse, which houses the Arts, Culture, and Technology Studios, at 114 South Buchanan Blvd. in Durham.
