Durham, NC -- The deans of Duke University’s chapel and medical school will explore the question “Is it possible to do any good?” at a Nov. 29 discussion in Hock Plaza Auditorium, 2424 Erwin Road.
The Rev. Samuel Wells, dean of Duke Chapel, and Dr. R. Sanders “Sandy” Williams, dean of the Duke School of Medicine, will host the 12:20 to 1:20 p.m. discussion. A question-and-answer session will follow their talk.
The talk will be the first in the Dean’s Dialogues series, sponsored by Duke Chapel. These events will be chaired by Wells and include deans from Duke’s schools reflecting on the possibility of doing good in one’s life.
“Duke Chapel has a unique role in encouraging discussion about matters of common concern and to enable dialogue to occur around the deeper issues that shape our character, lives and world,” Wells said.
The talks will be free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring bag lunches.
“We have a chance to discover what motivates the senior leaders of Duke’s schools and how they combine their sense of purpose with their disciplinary expertise,” said series organizer Gaston Warner, the director of university and community relations at the chapel.
