Are You on Track to Meet Your Financial Goals?
Human Resources offers free workshops as part of Financial Fitness Week
Thursday, June 12, 2003
In an effort to help staff and their families plan for their financial future, Human Resources is introducing a range of free financial workshops as part of its first annual Financial Fitness Week from June 23 - 26.
"Financial Fitness Week will offer staff and their families an opportunity to learn more about how to plan for their financial future," said Lois Ann Green, director of Benefits. "The broad range of workshops offers help for everyone, whether you are a beginning investor or approaching retirement."
The event will be held at four different locations throughout the week. A range of workshops and information booths will be offered at the Searle Center on Monday, June 23, and on Tuesday, June 24, at the Bryan Center. Specific workshops and information booths will also be offered at Durham Regional Hospital on Wednesday, June 25, and at Raleigh Community Hospital on Thursday, June 26.
"Financial Fitness Week is part of our continuing effort to provide staff with the information and resources they need to help them better understand and evaluate their financial situation and plan for their future," said Green.
Employees may want to bring their 2003 personal benefits statement or review their personal retirement information at www.hr.duke.edu/benefits to help them better understand and evaluate their financial situation before attending the workshops or visiting the information booth. The web site includes calculators to help employees determine college saving needs, life insurance needs, and retirement income needs based on their personal benefits information. The site also includes information about financial considerations for life events such as marriage and the birth of a child.
A flier will be distributed to employees in June to provide additional details about Financial Fitness Week. Reservations are required for workshops presented by Ernst & Young and are strongly recommended for other workshops due to limited space.
