COLLEGES LAX ON MORAL AND CIVIC DUTIES
UPI, March 5 -- The nation's colleges and universities are not
living up to one of their missions -- improving moral and civic
development -- the Carnegie Foundation charged Wednesday. A
three-year study showed the best method is to embed it in the
curriculum of other courses and Duke's first-year writing program

(Durham, N.C.) Herald-Sun, March 6 -- A group of Duke students wore
black Wednesday as a "passive protest," said Marina Kukso, a Duke
freshman. They passed out fliers protesting the war in Iraq and
