Duke University Continuing Education has partnered with I/Tech Services, a Microsoft-Certified Technical Education Center, to offer information technology (IT) certification training beginning next month.

Duke IT training is available via both traditional classroom instruction weekdays, evenings and on weekends; and through a new online (e-learning) format. The certification designation training offered at Duke includes, but is not limited to, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, Cisco Certified Network Associate, Oracle Database Administrator and Certified Application developer. New training programs are being added as market demand dictates.

A free IT information session will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 2024 W. Main St., Bay C. Open to the public, this session will include an in-depth overview of the program, training models utilized, available resources and financial aid opportunities. For more information and to register, call (866) 248-6265.

"E-learning is a flexible training alternative demanded by today's busy professional," said Dee Holland, coordinator of the Duke IT Program. "The program combines the proven training methods of traditional instructor-led training with the rich resources of computer-based technology to create an engaging online solution."

The Duke e-learning training program offers students the choice of enrolling in courses without commitment to a specific certification program -- an option not available in the traditional program. Students also have the choice of taking online classes in real time, led by an instructor, or in a self-paced format.
